Introduction
Seeing Machines’ (SM) Customers rely on our product as part of their business safety strategy. It is essential that the product is fully operational and safe upon installation.
SM has developed a pathway for formal training of Guardian Maintenance Technicians, Installation Technicians and Installer Trainers. SM does not provide a warranty for products that are not installed by a current Guardian Installation Technician.
SM provides a certification process to be used by SM employees, Distributors, and 3rd Party Installers (3PI). This article outlines the training process for Guardian Maintenance Technicians, Installation Technicians and Installer Trainers.

Training Delivery
Online Training
Trainees will be provided with the online content in the TCP. They will be required to complete all modules and pass all quizzes before they are able to be provided with OJT and assessed.
On Job Training (OJT)
All Guardian Installation Trainees need to arrange OJT with their Guardian Installer Trainer. A Trainer can only train 4 Trainees at any one time – this is to ensure that there sufficient room in and around the vehicle. The OJT requires at least 6 hours per trainee. Note that the Trainer is only able to assess one Trainee at any time.
The OJT for Guardian Installation Technician (including the SW Technician) is usually completed as follows:
- Day 1 morning – OJT delivery
- Day 1 afternoon – Installation practice
- Day 2 – Assessment
- Day 3 – Assessment
During the Assessment, Trainees are required to demonstrate their competence in the installation of a complete Guardian system into a vehicle.
Virtual OJT
All Trainees need to arrange delivery of their Virtual OJT with their Guardian Installer Trainer. A Trainer can only train 4 Trainees at any one time – this is to ensure that the trainer can adequately assess each trainee. The OJT requires at least 6 hours per trainee and will require the trainee to be in a position to attend a virtual classroom (with their own computer) for the entire session. The Trainee must also have a Gen 2 system and Installer kit with them prior to attending the Virtual OJT.
Once the Virtual OJT has been delivered, the Trainee must complete 3 installations and provide proof of those installations to their Trainer. After their third installation, they must arrange their virtual assessment with their Trainer.
The Virtual OJT is usually completed as follows:
- Day 1 – OJT Delivery with Trainer (6 hours)
- Day 2 – Installation of 1st Vehicle
- Day 3 – Installation of 2nd and 3rd Vehicle
- Day 4 – 2 hour Assessment with Trainer
